Friday Favorites

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to work this weekend and Isaac has some work related stuff to do also so there isn't much planned but I am hoping that he can break away from work for a while so that we can  explore someplace new this weekend.

Alright before we get into it I wanna tell you guys about something super cool (to me at least) that is happening today! I am being featured by Jodi over at Back on Land in her Military Spouse Blogger Guest Series called I Am, I Love, I Do....Basically you just answer a couple questions about yourself (who you are, what you love and a little about you and your love) so her readers (and of course y'all) can get to know you a little more. I love milspouse bloggers who support other milspouse bloggers...don't you?!? Well head over and check it out when you get a chance

Alright peeps......let's get down to the nitty gritty that is my Friday Favorites

In honor of one of the best movies ever and the sequel being available on Netflix, Biana over at B Loved Boston wrote this post on Why Elle Woods is a great role model and I have to completely agree with every word.

Favorite Color Swap

So I follow (read Stalk) a few bloggers who are also in Japan but different areas than we live (one is in Okinawa and one is in Osaka) and they unknowingly give me plenty of ideas for when I want to venture out those ways. Anyway....I was reading a post by one of those awesome ladies, Emily over at Love Me Like you Do, about the Favorite Color Swap that grabbed my attention.

Basically the favorite color swap is where they pair you with another blogger, give you their favorite color, you get to know them  little bit, then you send them some things in their favorite color and they do the same for you. HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!!? Who doesn't love surprises?? Plus I get to network with someone new who I may have not even ever have heard of before. I love it and so of course I signed up immediately.

Don't worry I wont leave you hanging I will totally keep you posted and let you know how this swap goes.

If you want to sign up head over to Chaotic Goddess Swaps and get all the necessary details.

Worrying for no reason....as always

So as you know a little over a month ago now Logan started CDC here at Yokota. Before this he had been out of daycare for over a year while Isaac was in Korea and I had my awesome time as a stay at home mom.

I am not gonna lie I was extremely nervous about him going back to CDC. Especially since now he would be in the preschool room. Was he mature enough? Was he going to throw tantrums? Would he get along with kids in the class? Well I will have you know that all of my worries and stresses and frustrations were a complete waste of time. HE LOVES IT!  He wakes up every morning asking when is he going to CDC, he has a great group of friends that he spends all day with and he loves loves loves his teachers Ms. Laima and Ms. Daisy. I mean you would think he has been with them for years.

The only issue we have had so far is with nap time. I haven't had a kid who takes naps in almost 2 years and he's only 3 1/2 and so of course he wasn't a fan of the 2 hours daily CDC nap time but he does lay down and uses it as quiet time.

Ms. Daisy and Ms. Laima are both so amazing and I am so lucky that Logan ended up in this classroom with these ladies that care as much about his as much as I do. I am so proud of his transition and how well he has adjusted to his new surroundings and schedule.

On Monday I had his parent teacher conference and y'all I got the best progress report I could've asked for! He not only expresses his feelings to his teachers and friends, but he is caring and attentive to his friends. He plays well with his classmates, he is the snack monitor (!!!!!!!!!!!!), he knows our train station, where the BIC camera store he loves so much is, Where we used to live, where his cousins live and He even pours his own milk at meal times. He has some things he has to work on still like tracing his name and being able to identify all of his letters but we will get there. Overall I was so pleased with what I heard.

Weekending: Mother's Day Edition

Happy Belated Mothers Day all you beautiful mamas, mamas to be and mamas of angels out there!

I hope that everyone got the day that they wanted whether it was spending it alone and quietly, with your kiddos, on a mothers day date with your husband, with your mama friends or with your own mama (in law)

Me...I spent it with my guys and it was exactly the day I hoped for, especially since I spent all Saturday on the couch with a crazy headache and an overall feeling of yuckiness and laziness

oh oh oh and before I forget on Friday Logan gave me the mothers day gift he made for me at CDC and I almost cried because he was so so so proud of it and presented it to me with the biggest smile on his face. He explained to me that it was a tree but he didn't want a green tree like everyone else he wanted a yellow tree and he decorated it because I like decorated things. SO SWEET....cue the tears!

I'm not gonna lie I woke up in a MOOD on Sunday morning! I don't know why but I do know that I hadn't heard Isaac mention Mother's day at all and I was pretty irritated about it. I didn't even get a Happy Mother's Day when I woke up from either of them which didn't help. I was up for about an hour cleaning up before Isaac came out and told me to shower and get dressed while he gave Logan a bath and got him dressed. Y'all they surprised me and took me to the bases Mother's Day Brunch and it was so nice! They even had ice sculptures...ICE SCULPTURES (If you didn't already know or couldn't tell I LOVE ICE SCULPTURES) They had amazing food, a dessert table complete with a chocolate fountain and even gave all the moms flowers as they were seated. I didn't get a ton of pictures because I was too busy stuffing my face but I did manage to get these

After brunch they took me over to the BX and got me the Shark Rotator Professional Lift Away Vacuum......you guys I have been talking about this vacuum for like 6 months ever since I first heard about it on the White Walls and White Walls Suds Facebook pages but we had a perfectly good Dyson Ball that cost an arm and a leg and there was no reason to get a new expensive vacuum. Well guess what?!!?! My Ball died and I was left with no vaccum so this gift was partially out of necessity and partially because I have been mentioning it every day for 6 months but whatever the reason was IT'S MINE AND I LOVE IT!

Overall it was an amazing low key day where I stuffed myself and got to take a mid day nap which is always a win. What did you do for Mother's Day?

The Showa-Kinen Flower Festival 2015

I hope that everyone had a good weekend!!! Normally I would post my weekend recap buuuuuut let's be serious I worked on Saturday so I did NOTHING worth writing about Friday night or Saturday after work because I've been beat lately. I will say that the weather on Sunday was gorgeous and that gave us the opportunity to take the train about 15 minutes to the Showa-Kinen park so that we could see the flower festival that was going on. I didn't know what to expect but I did know that it was supposed to have a bunch of tulips that I couldn't pass up.

One we got there I was surprised at how cheap it was for us to get in. It was 820 yen for Isaac and I to get in together (410 each) and Logan was free since kids under 6 are free. They have so much to do there which is nice. You can rent paddle boats, ride your bicicyle on the multiple trails, there is a water park, many playgrounds and much more. you could easily spend all day here and Logan was in threenager heaven.

After walking for about 3 minutes we ran into the beautiful flower gardens which were hard to miss. I spent so much time walking around, admiring the beauty of the nature we were surrounding by. I know if you know me by now you are aware that spring, flowers, sunshine and my boys make me one happy lady.

So beautiful!

We ran across a man painting and enjoying the scenery

A nice man noticed that we wanted to take pictures and offered to take a family picture for us and despite the language barrier it worked out

After spending about an hour or two walking around we sat down to watch the street performers that they had, grab some ice cream and so that Isaac could grab a beer

it was a great, inexpensive way to spend the day and I am so glad that the weather was finally nice on the weekend and we didn't waste it by watching TV inside

How was your weekend?

Weekending: DIY and Bad Behavior edition

Happy Monday!!!!!

So yes I have been a little MIA but to be honest these past couple of weeks have been the most stressful ever. Remember when I explained why I went back to work and a big part of it was because of the uncertainty surrounding Isaac's knee? well looks like me speaking that into existence is a real thing. After a series of MRI's and doctors appointments in Tokyo and on base we found out that Isaac will be having knee surgery, for the second time in just under 2 years, on Thursday. As you can imagine he was less than thrilled but I am trying to be as supportive and upbeat as I can possibly be for him. Then this morning we got the news that his surgery has been pushed back to June so we were relieved and less stressed and celebrated at Chili's

anyway on to the fun stuff!
Friday and Saturday were pretty regular boring days. I worked until 5 Friday night and Isaac was gone to Odaiba with his friends all day Saturday. since I didn't go and he doesn't share my love for pictures and oversharing I got absolutely zero pictures. Don't worry though after Isaac recovers we are going back as a family because there is a bunch of stuff to do there, including a maritime museum, which if you know me personally you know I am so stoked about!

Sunday Isaac surprised Logan and I with breakfast at Route 16 on base, and then came home to overhaul Logan's train table. We got this train table that Logan loves from my friend Kelly (we miss you Kelly!!) when we lived in Long Beach last year. The white paint in this year has been drawn on, stickers stuck to it, food and dirt all over it, the works. When it arrived here in Japan Isaac and Logan were talking and decided that it would be a good idea to paint it blue since that is his new favorite color. We are not DIY people....it is so much easier for us to pay someone but Logan wanted Isaac to do it so we bought a mask, some spray paint and some sanding stuff and headed out to the patio.

It isn't perfect but it looks so much better in his room, it hides the dirt much better nad most importantly Logan loves it!

Afterwards we headed to Aeon Mall, which is about 5 minutes from our house, and tried to go shopping. the key word there is TRIED. Logan was in the worst mood ever and I am just going to be honest.....HE WAS HORRIBLE. We got through H&M and then decided that before we tried to give Logan away to a Japanese family it was better to leave. There were tantrums, manikin arms pulled down and a stern, but extremely quiet, talking to. In Japan it is very bad to scold or discipline your child in public so you can just imagine how this went over. yeah it was time to go. I got a couple of shirts and decided that I was getting a sitter next time we both wanted to be at the mall.

If you follow me on instagram then you know that I was super excited for and attempted to navigate Lilly Pulizter for Target launch....

that was a big fat fail.

Once I finally got on all of the things in my size were sold our or available in store only so I quit and decided to watch Gold Rush with Isaac.

Soooo that was my weekend. How was yours??? Did you do anything cool?

Here are the ladies that im linking up with today
